Spiritual Freedom
by Rev. Pat Cross

"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!"
Let the spirit of freedom be awakened and born in each of us. "Oh
say can you see, by the dawn's early light." Let there be light. Living
in "enlightenment" is the spark of Spirit that sets off the inner
freedom that truly sets us free. Free to express and be all God created
us to be... whole, perfect, complete and free.
The way to this spiritual kingdom within may not be easy, yet it is indeed
simple and well worth the journey in fringe benefits and dividends.
It all begins in the awareness that we are all created equal in the image
and likeness of God, and this image and likeness of our Creator that we
are is an inherent gift of birth for each of us.
We are each an expression of the essence of the one pure spirit of God,
and we have only the door of choice to open, to enter God's inner sanctuary,
to partake of the unlimited blessings of the spirit of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven. Awaken to your own divinity. Become
consciously aware of this presence. Feel the glow and glory of BEING one
with this all-powerful spirit of unconditional life and love, and allow
yourself to stay in the flow of the natural divine expression. Know and
accept that you are the temple of the living God. Be that living God essence
alive, alert, inspired and enthusiastic. Be the highest and noblest expression
of God's nature that your present awareness can reveal to you, ever unfolding,
expanding and growing to the full potential of the unlimited possibilities
inherent within you.
But how, you might ask? First and foremost, it's a choice... a desire
to experience the richer and more fulfilling life. Sure, it means giving
up a lot of old habits, concepts, ideas, beliefs... a purging, cleansing
and releasing of many attitudes that have inhibited and blocked the flow
and unfolding of life itself within you.
That is where life is really happening... within you. Life is not happening
"out there "or in some far away place.
Life is, and is centered at the very core of your own being and beingness.
Ask yourself today: "What is my 'beingness' all about?"
As we learn in the philosophy of Science of Mind and/or Religious Science,
our patterns of thought create our experiences in life and determine the
quality of our livingness and being.
Being just is, and the supreme being within each of us is pure and unsullied.
Habits, habits, habits and more habits, embedded deep, deep within the
soul, are the stumbling blocks to this spiritual freedom, that keep us stuck
in the rut, the old way of handling and dealing with life and life's experiences.
The Science of Mind teachings, as set forth by Ernest Holmes in the Science
of Mind textbook, are not easy, yet they are simple. Science of Mind is
a process of learning, unfolding and growing for those of us who have a
deep and sincere desire to get in touch with our own divinity, to be our
own guru, and to truly and deeply experience the joys and fulfillment of
living the spiritual life in this human experience, being willing to take
full responsibility for the life we are creating.
The point of power is always found in this eternal NOW moment. We each
have access to this power of energy right here and right now, and the greatest
power of energy there is, is the power of unconditional love. Many people
seem to have a need to go back in time, to analyze, and/or to blame their
behavior today on some event, circumstance or relationship of the past.
Sure, we can acknowledge and accept that many of our habit patterns originated
in our childhood and formative years, yet why go back there... we've already
lived that life's experience.
Rather, let's choose to transcend that old stuff. Examine our life, behavior
and beliefs today. Create, establish, and maintain a working and active
relationship with the living presence of God (as you understand God) and
choose to call on this Spirit and Power.
Go beyond experiential living to exceptional living. Honor, respect and
be proud of your heritage, and listen for that inner voice that says, "Yes,
I can see by the dawn's early light." I have awakened and given birth
to and now celebrate spiritual freedom, as a worthy inheritor of a loving,
caring and nurturing Mother/Father God, the ultimate truth that sets us
free.
