Some Thoughts on Peace

[Sections of this article were contributed by Pamela Sodi, www.Peacebreath.com.]

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has! --Margaret Meade

Peace is created one step at a time. We are fortunate to live at a time in our history in which science has substantiated how each one of us contributes to the momentum of peace or to war.

It is a fact that 1/10th of one percent (.1%) of the population, unified by a single cause, can change the consciousness of the world. This incredible statistic has been recently proven by the research of David R. Hawkins. In his book Power vs. Force, he presents and synthesizes years of research in which he assigns vibrational energy values to different emotional attributes. Fear is measured at 200; Love at 500; Peace at 600.

Based on his research, David Hawkins has shown that ONE person vibrating at level 500 (Love) can counter-balance 750,000 people of a lower vibration! And one person vibrating at level 700 can raise the consciousness of 70 million people! Therefore, each time one person shifts into a higher state of awareness, it causes a tidal wave effect on the mass population.

Scientific research is further validating the powerful effect that human beings have. Our military has done experiments in which leukocytes (white blood cells) were collected from donors to measure electrical changes in the DNA. The donor was placed in one room, and his collected DNA in a different room in the same building. The donor was subjected to "emotional stimulation" from video clips, and emotional peaks and valleys were measured.

What they found was that the peaks and valleys of the collected DNA exhibited identical responses at the same time as the donor -- no lag time, no transmission time. They then moved the DNA to 50 miles away, and found that the donor and the DNA still had exactly the same responses at the same time. They concluded that living cells communicate through a previously unrecognized form of energy that already exists everywhere, all the time.

Science is recognizing the connection in all of life, as it never has before. Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle shows that an object is affected by the act of being observed. And contemporary biologist Rupert Sheldrake has presented the theory of "morphic resonance," which suggests that there is a unified field of consciousness that connects all life -- something which has been postured for centuries by prophets, sages and wise men.

We are part of the earth, and it is a part of us. This we know: all things are connected like the blood which unites one family. Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. --Chief Seattle, 1854

In a real sense all life is inter-related. All persons are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectlywe are all links in the great chain of humanity. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the inter-related structure of reality. We have before us the glorious opportunity to inject a new dimension of love into the veins of our civilization. --Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 1960's

Mitakue Oyasin -- The Great and Wise Native American Motto, which means, "all of my relations" or "we are all related."

WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. Everything we do, think and feel has an effect upon the whole. Individually, we have the potential to change the world. Collectively, the synergy of our intent can create a momentum that brings the shift about more quickly.

What is this mechanism by which one can attain a higher vibration?
1. The first step is awareness.
2. The second step is cognizance of our fear-based thought creations.
3. The third step is acceptance and forgiveness.
4. The fourth step is to replace the old vision with the new and highest vision of what you want your personal life and the world to be.
5. The fifth step is to embrace all that you are without judgment and all that the planet is, in all its aspects, without judgment.
6. The sixth step is to seek others of like mind, bonding the vision as a humanity and acting upon the vision which you hold.

Then...SEE that vision with great clarity, FEEL what it is like to live in that world, and LIVE each moment as if you are living in that world. As you do this, you are shifting reality with thought through the catalyst of emotion.

We are energetic beings and function within the laws of physics. As physics has proven, "energy flows where your focus goes." We are receiving, in manifested form, all of that which lies within our own consciousness, because together we create an energy field of light, and LIGHT IS REFLECTIVE. The catalyst of emotion comes from the heart, the seat of emotion. If there is hatred, to the degree that there is hatred is to the degree that the world will manifest all that represents the fundamental fear which masks as hatred. To the degree that there is love, is to the degree that the world will manifest healing, unity, and peace.

The love so many of us would like to see injected into the veins of civilization must first pour into us. Society will not transform until we transform; what's wrong "out there" is but a mere reflection of what's wrong "in here." --Marianne Williamson, from "Healing the Soul of America"

A human being is part of the whole called by us the universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty... --Albert Einstein 1879-1955

If you want to see a better world, then we have to become better people... --Sunbear, Shaman, Chippewa-Ojibwa Native-American Tribe

The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. --Black Elk

We must be the change we wish to see.The pure unadulterated love of one person can nullify the hatred of millions. --Mahatma Gandhi

Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace. --Dr. Albert Schweitzer

-- By noticing what you are thinking about the world (and yourself), -- By becoming aware of your judgments (about yourself and others),
-- By changing the way we see the world (the mirror of ourselves),
-- By observing any time you are coming from anything other than love, and shifting that immediately to peace...
-- You are bringing the world one step closer to peace -- because you ARE the world.

Not everyone is ready to do the work, to accept peace and unconditional love over fear and ego. But now you know that it only takes ONE person to affect the vibration of 750,000 people. I believe we can make a difference. YOU are the difference.

LET US GROW & HEAL OURSELVES IN PEACE, THROUGH UNDERSTANDING, AND BECOME WHAT WE WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD. --Marcy Roban, Founder, One World Movement, 2001
