Prosperity Practices
Jim Malloy

When making the transition from adolescence into adult life, I discovered
that I was somewhat "prosperity challenged." Although I believe
this inclination is something I came into this life with, growing up in
the sixties as much fun as it was only served to reinforce this
tendency, as affluence was very uncool back then.
Over the years, there has been significant progress in regards to my
relationship with prosperity. In some ways, this appears to have been simply
a by-product of the soul growth catalyzed by my spiritual practice. But
at times, I have also taken deliberate steps to create this. In doing so,
I've discovered some helpful principles and practices for manifesting greater
prosperity. Some of them may be familiar to you. In this article, I'll share
those principles and practices that have actually worked for me.
1. Cultivating and deepening your trust in the all-providing Spiritual
Source (whatever name or form you choose to give it). We hear all the time
that we are "God's children," and that "Spirit provides."
But I've found that the more deeply I come to feel and understand this,
the more powerful is its effect on my level of prosperity.
2. Realizing deeply that the Spiritual Source is non-judgmental
and unconditionally loving. There are very often core beliefs and projections
which contradict this. Spirit does not place conditions on love, or judge
your worthiness. It simply delivers whatever it perceives as your "requests,"
which it gleans from your constant outpouring of thoughts.
3. About 5% of manifesting prosperity involves communicating your
clear intention to the Spiritual Source. This tends to be most powerful
when done from a deeper state of consciousness, such as meditation or deep
prayer.
4. The other 95% of manifesting prosperity involves getting out
of the way of Spirit's all-providing flow.
How do you get out of the way? By refraining from sending all those conscious
and unconscious thoughts into the universal ether which hinder the flow
of divine providence. These include: worry; negative expectations; ambivalence;
belief of being unworthy; belief that prosperity is "unspiritual";
doubt that the Spiritual Source is omnipotent; belief that Spirit's love
and support is conditional; belief that life is a struggle; limiting logic
such as working x amount of hours, for x amount of wages automatically
limits your income to x amount of dollars.
5. The two practices I've found most effective for eliminating
"unconscious" limiting beliefs are meditation and journaling.
Meditation literally expands consciousness, so that your unconscious
contents naturally become an accessible part of your conscious mind. In
the light of consciousness, the power of limiting beliefs is significantly
lessened, and they can then be modified or released. Meditation also catalyzes
insight... realizing (and owning) deeper truths that can override limiting
beliefs.
Journaling also allows your unconscious contents to float up into the
light of awareness, empowering you to deal appropriately with limiting thoughts.
The more self-honest you can be, the better this works.
6. The practice I've found most effective for eliminating "conscious"
limiting thoughts is what is referred to as "offering it up."
During the day, whenever you notice you are thinking thoughts of limitation
or lack, offer them up to Spirit to be transmuted. If these thoughts relate
to a particular situation, hand the situation over to Spirit to take care
of as well. You might also take a few moments each morning to offer up your
whole package of "limiting stuff."
7. Gratitude. When you are truly grateful for all that you do
have, you are sending a powerfully positive picture into the Universe, affirming
and thus generating its providence and support.
8. Although spending some time with these practices is beneficial,
it is important not to "overthink," or get too attached to the
desire to create prosperity. Dwelling on it continually tends to send a
picture to the universe that you really don't trust that your needs or wishes
will be fulfilled. This is an important part of getting out of the way.
As a general rule, the less attached you are to prosperity (or anything),
the more freely it flows to you.
These principles and practices have all worked for me, and continue to
do so (when I apply them). They are not quick fixes, but take a bit of time
to cultivate. If you give the practices that resonate with you a try, in
time you will see positive results... enjoying greater prosperity and the
freedom that comes with it.
