Choosing Love
Edward Abel

You are the only means that love has for the conquering of its opposition;
therefore you are infinitely precious in the eyes of spirit.- Deepak
Chopra
Be kind to yourself and others.
Come from love every
moment you can.
Speak of love with others. Remind each other of your Spiritual purpose.
Never give up hope.
Know that you are loved.
(Taken from Deepak Chopra's The Path To Love Spiritual Strategies
for Healing.)
Understanding the connection of fear, forgiveness, peace and love are
truly a state of mind. This concept may sound foreign to a great many people.
However, it is true and inevitable. One can not find true peace and love
if one is carrying the burden of fear. It is akin to a person trying to
enjoy a gourmet meal simply by smelling one. Our minds are constantly searching
for answers to our questions. The saying "trash in, trash out"
is very true. When I speak of fear I am also including all that goes with
it: anger, prejudice, violence, uncontrollable behaviors, addictions the
list goes on. Once we connect forgiveness to unconditional love our minds
are more then willing to accept this principle and feel the power restored
for our ability to find joy, peace and love.
We may have heard and perhaps even used the statement, " I will
forgive but I won't forget." We may as well say, "I
choose to live in my fears." The only reason for holding onto something
that does not empower us but lends to destructive and limited behavior is
fear. Our minds will grasp and quite easily accept this fear consciousness.
However, once we raise our consciousness and open the doors to release fear
we can then begin attracting the most powerful of all emotions, LOVE. The
power of love is so strong that it not only supports the notion of forgiveness
but also enhances and attracts more love to it. This is true of all positive
feelings. When the mind paints a picture of tranquillity, prosperity or
anything that we desire, our minds begin the co-creating process that brings
into form all we desire and wish to attract into our lives.
If we choose to hang on to our negative energy of fear, anger, hate,
distrust and rage, we will continually attract more of these behaviors and
circumstances into our lives. With this being said, we are free to forgive,
release and to begin to attract into our lives the peace and happiness we
want. The mind simply processes this information through conscious and subconscious
means, but we are the captains of this wonderful vessel and we choose the
route we want to take. Life is all about choices and lessons, and we have
the ability to choose how we learn these lessons. We can choose the hard
and sometime destructive road or we can clear our minds and allow the peace
of Spirit or our Higher Power to flow through our minds and bodies. We can
then be guided through our lessons in a more direct and positive fashion.
Envision a world where fear is an obsolete word. We need to realize that
without fear we invite unconditional love to take up permanent residence
in our life. Unconditional love provides a way for us to grow stronger and
faster, live longer and healthier and, most of all, take control of our
destiny. All choices flow from a position of either fear or love. When we
choose love, our lives make a change that is so wonderful, positive and
uplifting we can no longer return to our old ways of thinking or behaving.
This is the most positive way to grow.
Imagine teaching children through love, without fear or intimidation.
What do you think would be the result? Children who learn not to fight because
something wasn't going their way or who have a willingness to learn new
ways of solving problems that do not include violence, imposing control
over another, or destructive behavior. Children who grow up seeing the world
as a loving, peaceful and happy place, instead of one filled with negative,
disempowering beliefs and hopelessness, are destined for a successful life.
We have the power to create this environment for ourselves and our children,
but we must first learn to forgive others and release them in our minds
and hearts, then forgive ourselves and begin the process of discovery that
simply begins with the thought of LOVE.
