The Power of Our Thoughts

by Dr. Audrey Craft Davis

Jesus, Buddha, Christna, Mohammed . . . all the great Masters taught us to control our thoughts but often the negative energy originates outside ourselves. When for no apparent reason you feel depressed, anxious, angry or fearful, it is imperative that you short-circuit that negative energy. This emotion could be from someone who loves you and is worried about you, someone who is envious of you, or from someone who just happens to be on your wavelength.

The solution: go into the silence and sense the feeling. As you meditate you will feel the energy of that black thought. Return it in the direction from which it came, on a beam of healing light. The healing light is like a boomerang. If the dark thought is coming from your own dark side, the healing light will return to you. Only good can result either way.

I do this often. I can meditate and know who it came from, but it matters not from where it came. The objective is to obliterate the negativity. The healing light robs the negative energy of its power to hurt you or anyone else, especially the one who sent it. So everybody wins and nobody loses. You will immediately feel uplifted -- your assurance of the person's deliverance -- a good way to protect loved ones.

The negative energy may be from someone who is worried about you and who does not yet know that to worry about a person can bind him with the worry thought. A client asked, "How can I not worry when my loved one is in deep trouble?"

It is not easy, but you must see the opposite of the situation which you are worried about. There is an exact opposite to everything. If there is trouble in your loved one's home life, visualize the opposite of that situation: a home that is peaceful, fulfilling and loving. Words and thoughts are things, they materialize. Your thought can and will definitely affect your loved one. There is a cosmic link between you and those you love. If you cannot think about a person without worrying, it is best not to think of them at all.

One lady who was very worried about her daughter said, "She will never listen to any advice I give her."

I asked, "Do you ever visualize her listening to you?"

"No, she never has and she never will."

I shocked her with this: "See, how well it works. She is performing exactly the way you see her. You have absolute proof of how well the picture in your mind works. Change the film. Start seeing a picture of what you do want."

"Explain to me how I can see something so different."

"Here is the formula. Start by relaxing. Take a few deep breaths, relaxing more and more with each breath. As you begin to feel drowsy, you are in your powerful alpha brain wave frequency. This is the proper time to paint a picture that will materialize.

"Remember when you were a child how you would look out the window and day dream, see pictures? Jesus says that we must become as little children."

I have had to practice what I preach. When both of my grown children were near death, I could not go to them for fear my love for them and seeing them in such dire circumstances would cause me to bind them with the thing that threatened their lives. I had to see the opposite of what the doctors were telling me. It was the hardest thing I have ever done but it saved their lives.

To outsiders, who have been taught that to worry about others proves our love, even to those close to one, it probably seemed heartless. I could have no concern what others thought of my actions when my dear children were both at death's door.

I had to do what I knew could save their lives: the opposite of what the doctors were telling me. They said that neither my daughter nor the baby to which she was about to give birth could live. Here is the picture I visualized for my daughter and grandson: I visualized my daughter recovered and at home with her husband, looking into the crib at little Josh, so happy with their healthy baby son.

Knowing our thoughts do produce after their own kind, I did the only thing I knew could save their lives: I pictured the opposite of what my senses were telling me.

My son had been in a terrible auto accident. His lungs were filled with blood clots and they were too close to his heart to dissolve them. The picture I put in my mind for my son was this: I visualized his four children and his wife surrounding him at home, telling him how much they loved him and how thrilled they were to have him home.

How often do we hear, "What you see is what you get." Nightingale says, "The greatest secret in the world is that man becomes what he thinks about." Scripture says, "Be careful what you set your heart upon, for you shall surely have it."

Charles Fillmore tells us that our thoughts are so powerful they cause the very atoms of the universe to tremble and change place. As we move into the new age of full consciousness, it is, even more important to control our thoughts for they will create . . . instantaneously.
