In our Christian Bible, wisdom is often attributed to Solomon -- he was actually deemed the wisest man of the Old Testament. However, in Ecclesiastes, the twenty-first book of the Old Testament, Solomon is the author of "an old man's confession of the vanities of life." He says, "Vanities of vanities, all is vanity and vexation of spirit."
Looking, however, at the earlier years of Solomon and the 1500 songs attributed to him, all is love for God and his creation, and life is wondrous indeed. In a vision, God asked him what was his desire. Solomon answered, "Give me wisdom to lead my people." And God said, "Since you did not ask for riches and long life, but rather for wisdom, you shall have it all."
In modern times, Dr. Depak Chopra has earned a place in the halls of wisdom. He talks of the intelligence of the body. He reminds us that sequential preventive medicine has evoked the healing within the body for hundreds of millions of years. He explains how the body actually makes its own drugs with no side effects.
He says that biological age is not the same as physiological and that age can even be reversed. He proved this through an experiment where he took a group of people, age seventy five and put them in a setting of a much younger age group. No music nor news of their own age was allowed. Everything was screened so that they experienced life as it had been twenty years earlier.
They actually did become twenty years younger and, as long as they remained in that environment, they maintained that youth. When they were returned to their usual surroundings, they became their former chronological age.
Depak says, "In reality, our whole experience is an illusion. If you can touch it, feel it or see it, it is probably an illusion. It is dependent on the observation that makes it a picture of reality. There is a difference between reality and our perception of reality."
If we focus on disease, we cause disease. The body is a living river of information. Depak says that we are the product of all our experience. Our cells are eavesdropping on our every thought. Cellular memory is the climactic interpretation of materiality. In less than a year, 98% of your body is replaced; skeleton, every three months, DNA, every six weeks, and so on. If you think you are body, which body? Health is a state of higher consciousness. The body started out as a speck of DNA, a space-time event. The real you is non-logical.
Our logical mind will tell us we are standing still, but in reality we are moving at thousands of miles per hour.
We are victims of our memory. Our thought is our interpreter of our experiences. Time does not exist: it is subjective, perceptional. Our universe has no beginning and no end. Science cannot prove the existence of mind. We cannot see a soul, mind, thought, or spirit. I am not the thought, I am the thinker. Chopra says that in the quantum physics field impulsive intelligence changes our body every minute and evolution is our ability to change our environment in our consciousness. Body and mind are the same in different disguises. It depends on how we use our sensors. Electrical, mechanical sensors convert the electricity of the brain. It is the way we metabolize. Depak says that everything, including our bodies are according to the perception response of the observer, made up of energy and information; mind and body. Vedic science says, "I use my memory but I do not allow my memory to use me,"
Resistance to things we cannot change, causes most of our illness. Richard Sutphen says, "Release your resistance to things you cannot change and set yourself free."
We think 60,000 thoughts every day and 95% of them, we thought yesterday. Nightingale tells us we are what we think. Wisdom would demand us to change our lives by changing our thoughts.
Einstein's teachers considered him mentally slow, unsociable, his mind adrift with foolish dreams. He had no use for the pedantic type of mind. He was annoyed that few of the so-called scholars understood the meaning of speculative thought. Most of them were not dreamers. And yet he stated, "Before God, we are all equally wise, equally foolish."
